Abstract

In the past few years, the music industry has changed severely due to media libraries like the iTunes Store and online streaming services like Spotify. The media library iTunes Store from Apple (released in 2001), and especially the music service, received lots of competition from Spotify, (launched in 2008) because they offered a yearly subscription to unlimited streaming of music in contrast to the download service that the iTunes Store provided. This case focuses on the cycle of change that iTunes was subjected to, to stay innovative and to keep up with their streaming service competitors.
