The adaptive cycle and power sharing

The Adaptive Cycle, a model that visualises the different phases a company can find itself in, proposes three different ways of improvement for organisations. First of all ‘Going Concern’, second ‘Being Innovative’ and third ‘Adaptiveness’. This adaptiveness has not been researched a lot. In this thesis I will use a theory by Ensor (2011), where he states that adaptiveness can be divided in three different interconnected area’s:

  1. Power Sharing;
  2. Knowledge & Information and
  3. Experiment and Testing

I have researched the Power Sharing dimensions and asked myself the question: “Does Power Sharing Influence the Adaptive Capacity of an Organisation?" With the use of intensive and comprehensive qualitative research I have created a bit more insight into the Power Sharing dimension. The idea was to create a bigger understanding of the adaptiveness within the Adaptive Cycle.
