Abstract

This thesis is part of a project, which states the opinion that current educational institutions are unable to fulfil the requirements of the future. Within a dynamic environment, caused by the digital evolution, change is a permanent phenomenon. The aim of this thesis is to discover the focus points for an e-learning environment that supports lifelong learning. Our hypothesis is that the future of education can only be ensured by enriching traditional education with new, innovative and co-creational ways of educating by intensive use of IT. Using the four tools, suggested by Abcouwer, Takács, & Dömölki (2017) serving as a fundamental part of the solution. An explorative approach, qualitative and inductive in nature, is used. Domain experts as well as documentation is used to analyse four cases. The four cases can be divided in two cases about traditional learning, and two about non-traditional learning. The resulting data suggests case recommendations, a general advice framework and reflection on the four tools. The main finding is that the topics of Resilience, New Concepts, Education and Technology are underdeveloped, and it is advised to focus more on these topics.
